Last night, the anticipated and hyped Marvel Superhero movie, Avengers-Infinity War, opened. Twenty-two superheroes together in a 150 minute movie for good. Mark and I follow superhero movies because our son does. He and his fraternity brothers were at the theatre last night to see the movie debut.
Everybody wants a hero. Movie heroes have special supernatural gifts to do good. Most of us don't have supernatural gifts. But, God has made us for good. Paul reminded the Christians in Ephesus who they were.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
Because of the grace God has shown us in Jesus Christ, our perfect leader and hero, we get to extend grace in His name to our family, our friends, our neighbors, our colleagues and more.
We get to do that together next Saturday, May 6, on Serve Day. Already, 178 (as of 9 am) of us are signed up. I am praying that over 300 of us will scatter across our city showing our love for our city. You can sign up here.
We serve to show that we love the city that God loves. We serve to point people to God's love for them.
On Sunday, we will continue in our Serve Bethlehem series. Mark will preach on the last part of Micah's words from God showing us how to live-- "Walk Humbly with our God." Our own Dr. Matt McCambridge will be our Bethlehem interview sharing as a leader in our medical community. These interviews have been really helpful for me to learn more about our city. Also on Sunday, we will receive 12 new members.
It's going to be a great, not to miss, Sunday. Aren't they all!
Your pastor and friend,
Dr. Marnie Crumpler, Senior Pastor
PS. Also, after the 10:30 service, Mark and I will hold an informational meeting for the Holy Land Pilgrimage in October. You can click here for more information on line.
