Every morning, I check the weather app on my phone. And every day, I am confused. Today 50 degrees. Tomorrow snow. And repeat. I hope the weather channel is correct about the weather this Sunday-no rain or snow! While weather is not predictable, what happens each week at BECA IS so predictable--the warmth of the community and the power of meeting God in worship. It is great to hear the buzz about how much you love being at BECA. You love running into people you used to miss because they were in the service on the other side of campus. You love seeing new faces each week. It is so clear that God's sovereign hand is at work in our church!
You won't want to miss this Sunday. At the 9 am service, we will welcome The Easton Area High School Chamber Strings, directed by Ms. Carol A. Lutte. I can't wait to hear this group of 25 auditioned young men and women lead us.
In all of our services, we will celebrate communion. A special thanks to our communion teams who have had to figure out a new way to both prepare and serve us. For those of us not used to passing trays, this will be a new experience! I am so grateful for the ways God is using each new experience in our new season to joyfully trust Him more.
Sunday, I will continue our series, Seven Days with Tuesday: Rising Tensions. As Jesus kept walking through the week toward the cross, tensions were rising between Jesus and the Jewish religious leaders. They didn't like what Jesus said and did. They didn't believe Jesus had the authority to do any of it. His popularity was threatening. Jesus didn't resolve the tensions but resolved to walk the path to his death and our life. Many of the questions about who Jesus is and his authority are still being asked. We'll live into those tensions as we walk with Jesus in the week that changed the world.
I hope you have marked your calendars for our Holy Week Schedule. It will all start with our Easter egg hunt, Saturday March 24th, on Lafayette field, near our new mid-week campus on Locust Street. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and a great opportunity for us to have a fun event in our new neighborhood. On Palm Sunday, March 25th, we will have our palm processionals at both services. Maundy Thursday service will be at BECA at 7 pm. And then Easter Sunday, 9 am classic (traditional) with brass and choirs and 10:30 am (modern)! Please invite your friends! That day we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and also announce our new name.
God is on the move. See you at BECA!
Your pastor and friend,
